Truman - Life of a Brown Necked Cape Parrot

Cape Parrot

Welcome to the Trained Parrot Blog, home of Truman the Caped Cape Parrot. Truman is a Brown-Necked Cape Parrot, Poicephalus robustus fuscicollis. Truman hatched on March 2, 2010 to Cape Parrot parents Angie and Magnum. He was raised by expert Cape Parrot breeder, Jean Pattison of African Queen Aviaries. Truman was flown to me from Florida by airline and arrived on June 22, 2010.

Cape Parrot

Truman is fully flighted and was never clipped. He flies around and can at times be a menace. His aluminum cage is well suited for the life of a Cape Parrot with 3/4" bar spacing and plenty of space. Truman spends much of his day preening and playing with his toys. But he also enjoys cuddle time and training. Almonds are definitely Truman's favorite food but he also likes walnuts, seeds, and pellets.
